200-Hour Traditional & Modern Vinyasa Teacher Training – Koh Phangan
A disciplined, embodied, and transformative journey into yoga’s tradition and modern expression.
Our 200 - Hour Yoga Teacher Training is not a retreat or an escape.
It is a sadhana—a devoted journey into the heart of yoga. A space for discipline and curiosity, for breath and stillness, for the kind of learning that moves beyond the mat. Rooted in tradition, enriched by modern understanding, and guided by teachers who live their practice, this course invites you to explore yoga as both science and art. Whether your path leads you to teach or simply to deepen your own practice, you will leave with a grounded foundation, a clearer voice, and a living connection to the essence of yoga.
From Tradition to Flow: The Evolution of Vinyasa
The story of Vinyasa begins with a simple truth: yoga is not just about shapes, but about a way of placing ourselves — body, breath, and mind — with intention. The Sanskrit word vinyasa means “to place in a special way,” while krama means “step-by-step.” Together, Krama Vinyasa describes a gradual, intelligent unfolding of practice, where each posture prepares the ground for the next.
This method was refined in the 20th century by T. Krishnamacharya, often called the grandfather of modern yoga. His approach was never rigid, but deeply attentive — practice was adapted to the individual, guided by breath, and always intended as a path toward stillness. Central to this was the concept of Tristhana — the union of posture, breath, and gaze. These three anchors work together to steady the body, focus the mind, and awaken a meditative awareness. In Krishnamacharya’s vision, asana was never an end in itself, but a preparation for deeper states of concentration and meditation.
As his students carried these teachings into the world, each gave them a different expression. Pattabhi Jois emphasized the fire and discipline of Ashtanga Vinyasa, where Tristhana became the foundation of a powerful, breath-synchronized flow. B.K.S. Iyengar brought precision and alignment, exploring the transformative potential of each asana in detail. T.K.V. Desikachar focused on adaptation, teaching that practice must serve the student’s life and stage of being.
From these roots grew what we now call Vinyasa Flow: creative, breath-led, and expressive. In many studios today, Vinyasa has become less about fixed sequences and more about personal exploration — a dance between structure and freedom.
Both traditions hold wisdom. Both reflect yoga’s capacity to evolve while remaining rooted in timeless principles.
In this training, we honor that continuum. We guide you from the discipline and depth of Krama Vinyasa, grounded in Tristhana, to the creative freedom of modern Vinyasa Flow. By understanding where these approaches meet and where they diverge, you will see how yoga continues to adapt in the present moment — and how you can step into this living tradition with clarity, confidence, and authenticity - so you can consciously discover the path that resonates most deeply with you.
